I’ve worked for Travel Nation since 2017 after moving from small town life in Ware, Hertfordshire to Brighton, to be closer to the sea. It’s not the biggest move I’ve made though; I lived in Queenstown in the South Island of New Zealand for 6 years, surrounded by stunning views, lakes, mountains, and a lot of fun! I moved back home to ‘real life’ in 2014.
The tiny village of Widford in deepest, darkest, Hertfordshire.
I studied Textile Design (or more specifically, Weaving) at the University of Derby.
I worked for Southern Discoveries in Queenstown, selling cruises to the beautiful Milford Sound and then put my knowledge of my two favourite countries to use by becoming an Australia and New Zealand specialist for a travel company in Hertford.
Naomi has visited:
Creating things – jewellery, dresses, hats (anything that gets my artistic juices flowing!) When the urge takes, I run and cycle.
I don’t have a favourite band but I do love 90s Britpop!
Not strictly a RTW trip, but New Zealand…for 6 years.
Passport (obviously), book (for when your flight is delayed and the battery has died on your phone), earphones (because no one needs to hear your music!), earplugs (because who knows what noises lurk outside your hotel door) and a sense of adventure.
My parents took us (me, my older brother and younger sister) on a month long trip to Australia before I started uni. Thus began my love affair with Australia and have been back at least 5 times since.
I loved Mt Cook in the South Island of New Zealand and I was lucky enough to visit during good weather. So many people see a blanket of cloud! Barcelona is one of my favourite cities and the Margaret River/South west corner of Australia.
Cottesloe Beach, Perth, WA. The sunsets are stunning there.
When I was back packing and staying in dorm rooms, the noise of rustling plastic bags from people who were leaving early in the morning used to drive me mad.
My next go-to places are Canada and Japan – I’d love to go in cherry blossom season.
I worked some weird and wonderful jobs during my working holiday in Australia – a sales job where we were given a bag of what could only be described as jumble sale items and were driven to a small town in WA to sell it! My favourite job was at the Perth Mint, where I worked as a Coin Inspector. The job itself was quite repetitive but I loved seeing the collector’s coins in gold and platinum set with diamonds and rubies.
New York – I love shopping and being a tourist.
My family, friends, and British chocolate!
