Day 1: Arrive in Punta Arenas

On arrival at Punta Arenas airport, you will be met and driven into the city for a half-day tour. The city sits beside the Strait of Magellan which is the main passage between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, at the very southern tip of the Americas.

During the tour, you’ll be introduced to this charming city’s main sights, its coastline and the culture in this region that’s known as the gateway to the Antarctic continent. You’ll discover some of the history of Punta Arenas and follow in the footprints of polar explorers like Shackleton and Amundsen...

After the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel where you will check in for a 1-night stay.

Day 2: Porvenir, King Penguin Park & Blanco Lake

Today we’ve included a tour to one of the world’s most remote places, Tierra del Fuego. You will be picked up by your driver and guide and the tour includes a 2.5 hour cruise through the Magellan Strait from where you may see whales, sea lions, Austral dolphins, cormorants and other marine life.

You will arrive at the town of Porvenir where we’ve included lunch at a local restaurant. Early in the afternoon, you will continue to the King Penguin Park where you will see these magnificent birds in their natural habitat. This is one of the few places outside of Antarctica where you can admire them in the wild so enjoy your very special Patagonian moment! You’ll have a couple of hours here to spend admiring the penguins, then you will be driven to Blanco Lake for dinner and to spend the night.

Day 3: Karukinka Park

After breakfast, your guide will take you on a short drive to Karukinka Park where there are several interesting walking trails.

You’ll go for a hike along the smooth upward path across steppe, forest and Andean vegetation with scenic lookout points and stunning views along the way. You’ll reach Del Cura Lagoon where you can stop for a break and have a boxed lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll walk back and then return to your hotel in Blanco Lake for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 4: Blanco Lake, San Sebastian and Tolhuin

Today you will be driven towards Argentina and cross over the border in the small town of San Sebastian, following the road bordering the Atlantic coast.

In Argentina, your first stop is Estancia Rolito, a sheep ranch where you will be treated to a tasty lunch and an interesting tour of the ranch. After some time relaxing, you’ll be driven to the town of Tolhuin on the eastern shore of Lake Fagnano, where you will have dinner and check into your hotel for your last night.

Day 5: Ushuaia

After breakfast, you will be driven southwest to Ushuaia, the largest town on the Argentinian side of Tierra del Fuego and the world’s most southerly city. We’ve included a guided tour of the city and lunch at one of the local restaurants. In the afternoon your adventure ends, you will say goodbye to your guide and will connect with your onward travel plans.

As this itinerary goes to some of the most southerly places on earth, we would suggest avoiding the southern hemisphere’s winter to enjoy the trip to the full. We, therefore, recommend travelling between late September and early April.
