Day 1: Depart Puerto Maldonado
On arrival in Puerto Maldonado airport, you’ll be met by staff from the lodge who will help you check in, before you board a boat to reach the lodge.
When you arrive, you can look forward to a delicious lunch before heading out for a two-hour rainforest walk with your guide, who will help you spot wildlife and explain the importance of the rainforest, its uses and its role in life in the Amazon.
This evening, you can look forward to a twilight cruise on the Madre de Dios River where you’ll learn about the river’s ecosystem, the Amazonian creeks and understand more about the nocturnal animals’ behaviour.
Dinner is included tonight at your lodge.
Day 2: Amazon
After breakfast, head out for a trek in Tambopata National Reserve towards Lake Sandoval. Your guide will explain the reserve’s conservation efforts and tell you how the lake was formed, before you hop into a dugout canoe. You’ll sail out into the lake on the lookout for endangered giant river otters, red howler monkeys and one of the world’s biggest freshwater fish, the paiche.
It's back to the lodge for lunch, then you’ll have the opportunity to experience the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway. High up in the rainforest canopy above 30m, you can walk along the 7 hanging bridges that connect the trees and from this vantage point you can look out for toucans, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth!
Before dinner tonight (included), you can go on a night safari witness the nocturnal animals with their intriguing behaviour patterns and enhanced senses.
Day 3: Amazon
After an early breakfast, it’s off to the Native Farm to learn local farming techniques and to taste some of the produce. From here, you’ll visit the Botanical Gardens to discover some of the medicinal uses of the plants that grow in the rainforest.
After lunch back at the lodge, you’ll go for a canoe ride and try your hand at some ‘catch and release’ fishing using traditional fishing techniques.
Tonight you’ll have another unique opportunity to spot nocturnal creatures in some well-placed hides that keep you far enough away not to disturb the animals, but close enough to see them!
Day 4: Return to Puerto Maldonado
After breakfast, you will be taken back to Puerto Maldonado by motorised canoe. On arrival, you will have time to look around the beautiful butterfly house before making your onward journey.
