Itinerary in brief:

  • 2 nights Ho Chi Minh City
  • 3 nights Phu Quoc

Day 1:Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City

On arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, your guide and private car will meet you in arrivals, before whisking you off to your hotel where you will check in for your two night stay.

We’ve left the remainder of the day free for you to settle into your hotel and new surroundings, and perhaps meander through Ho Chi Minh City. For an easy, local experience, why not try a Vietnamese coffee, served hot or over ice; it is laced with condensed milk - a quintessential Vietnamese drink.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City: Cu Chi tunnels and city tour

A busy and exciting day awaits you today, so treat yourself to a hearty breakfast before your guide picks you up. This day tour takes you to the Cu Chi tunnels for and offers a glimpse of Hi Chi Minh City’s main landmarks.

First you’ll travel northwest to Cu Chi district; leaving the city behind the scenery changes to views of rice paddies and villagers drying noodles by the side of the road. Arriving at the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, you’ll discover an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters (Viet Cong) during both the French and American wars.

Returning to the city this afternoon, your tour visits the Reunification Hall, formerly known as the Presidential Palace. On the morning of 30 April 1975, North Vietnamese tanks crashed through the gates, signifying the end of the war.

You’ll also visit the Old Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and then finally Ben Thanh – the central market for the city and one of its most colourful and liveliest areas.

After a long day it’s time to head back to your hotel to put your feet up, before heading out to explore the city by night.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc

After breakfast at your hotel, your morning will be spent travelling to one of Asia’s least developed beach destinations. You will be taken to the airport to meet your flight and upon arrival, your hotel’s shuttle bus will whisk you off to your resort.

The afternoon has been left free for you to settle into beach life and fully embrace some rest and relaxation.

Day 4 & 5: Phu Quoc

We’ve included two free days in Phu Quoc. It’s an ideal place to relax and unwind on one of the white sand beaches, or relax by the hotel’s pool with a good book or cocktail.

If you tire of lounging by the pool there are some great activities on Phu Quoc Island, like snorkelling or hiking through the National Park.

Day 6: Phu Quoc – Ho Chi Minh City

Your time in Phu Quoc has to come to an end, and after breakfast your resorts shuttle will transfer you to the airport to meet your flight to Ho Chi Minh.

The climate in Vietnam varies dramatically depending on the region you are visiting and is incredibly diverse with weather ranging from snow and frost in the northern hills to tropical conditions in the south. There are two monsoons in Vietnam; the winter monsoon arrives between October and March and brings cold and wet winters to the north and dry and warm conditions in the south. From April to October the summer monsoon brings humid weather to the whole country apart from those regions sheltered by mountains. For the best balance we recommend visiting in either April, May or October.
