Explore Indonesia as a family on this 9 day trip to Lombok and the Gili Islands. Spend a couple of nights on Lombok, home to the second largest volcano in Indonesia. Sail over to Gili Trawangan - the largest of the 3 Gili Islands yet so small you can walk around it in under two hours! With plenty of sandy beaches and no motorised transport on the island (just horses and carts!), it’s a perfectly safe place for children to play. Add in some island-hopping and swimming with turtles and you have the perfect family beach break!
This itinerary can be tailored to suit your requirements please contact one of our consultants to start planning your dream trip.
On arrival you will be greeted and taken by private transfer to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure.
You have a full day here to explore the island or relax as you please. Lombok is home to Indonesia’s second highest volcano with rivers and waterfalls pouring down the slopes and a summit that rewards adventurers with hot springs and a dazzling crater lake if they make it to the top!
If you would like us to help arrange an excursion for today please speak to your consultant who will be happy to make a suggestion.
You will be collected from your hotel and taken to the pier to connect with the boat over to Gili Trawangan, just a short 35 minute ride away.
You will arrive straight onto the beach on the island of Gili Trawangan and you’ll be taken to your hotel to check in for your 5 night stay. “Gili T” is only a small island so you can walk around it in around 2 hours (as long as you don’t get distracted by the beautiful beaches along the way!) With no motorised transport allowed, the only way to get around is by foot or by horse and cart – as you can imagine its very laidback.
Spend the next 4 days relaxing on this chilled out island. Explore the island’s beaches or learn to dive at one of the many dive companies operating along the ocean front. Be sure to grab a snorkel and head off the shore to swim with the giant turtles that call the area home - a truly unmissable experience for a child!
We’ve also included a day trip to the smaller GIli islands of Gili Meno and Gili Air. Here you can meet the local coconut farmers, learn how to harvest coconuts, snorkel in the impressive coral gardens off the coast of Gili Meno and relax on the white sand beaches of Gili Air on your privately reserved day bed. These stunning islands are likely to be the highlight of your trip.
Your family trip has come to an end and it’s time to head back to Lombok. Join your boat for the short journey over.
On arrival you will be greeted and taken to your hotel for your final night ahead of departure tomorrow.
A private car will collect you from the hotel today and take you to Lombok Airport to connect with your onward travels.
Dry season in Bali runs from April – September, although occasional rainfall can still be expected, and the resorts are busiest during this time. During rainy season Bali becomes quieter although the sun still shines and temperatures remain relatively stable year round meaning Bali can be a great destination at any time of year.
