Day 1: Darwin to Litchfield National Park
Your tour leader will collect you from your hotel early this morning to embark on your 3 day ‘Top End’ adventure. First stop is Litchfield National Park, known for its cascading waterfalls and giant termite mounds. Cool off by swimming in the watering holes before enjoying a barbeque lunch with the rest of the group.
This afternoon you will head to the Mary River region and to the private campsite there to set up for the evening. Local wallabies will be there to greet you as you settle in your permanent tent, complete with proper beds and bedding. A cruise along the river gives the opportunity to spot saltwater crocodiles, birds and buffalos before returning to camp for stories under the stars!
Day 2: Litchfield to Kakadu National Park
An early start today as you head out to Kakadu National Park in a 4wd ideal for the outback terrain. A rocky road, boat ride and short hike are rewarded as you arrive at Twin Falls Gorge, find a spot to relax as you enjoy this stunning natural wonder, there’ll be plenty of time for those waterfall pics!
Next stop is Jim Jim Falls, this time a walk through monsoon forest and scramble over boulders brings you to the waterfall and adjoining plunge pool, surrounded by 150m cliffs. Spend the rest of the afternoon swimming and relaxing in these unique surroundings before heading to the second campsite in Cooinda for early evening.
Day 3: Kakadu National Park to Darwin
After breakfast at the campsite you will head to Ubirr located in the East Alligator Region to witness ancient Aboriginal art and have it interpreted by a local guide. This artwork tells us about the history and culture of the Aboriginal people, one of the oldest living cultures on earth. Lookouts provide spectacular views across the floodplains and beyond to Arnhem Land.
A short hike through monsoon forest is followed by a cool off in the clear plunge pools at Barramundi Gorge before sitting back and enjoying the journey back to Darwin for early evening.
