Day 1: Arrive in Manaus

On arrival at Manaus airport, you will be met and taken by private transfer to your hotel where you will check in for a 1-night stay.

Day 2: Manaus to the Amazon

This morning after breakfast your family will be picked up by shared transfer at your hotel and taken to the Amazon Village Eco-lodge. From the port, you’ll take a 1.5-hour speedboat ride to get to your Amazon lodge. The journey itself will be fascinating as you’ll get to experience the “Meeting of the Waters” where the differently coloured streams of the Rio Negro and the Amazon combine.

This evening you have your first chance to spot the local creatures with dinner included, followed by an alligator spotting tour on the river.

Days 3 & 4: Amazon Village eco-lodge

You have now two full days to take part in the activities offered by the lodge which are designed to help you explore safely, and we’ve included all your meals at the lodge. There are jungle treks, river navigations, fishing trips and visits to see native villages, so whether it’s jungle trekking or meeting local people, you’ll have plenty to do.

The Amazon is home to some eye-catching wildlife, so keep an eye out as you explore with the help of your guides. Look above, and you’ll see colourful birds like the scarlet macaw, and on the ground, you’re your eyes peeled for elusive jaguars, spider monkeys and sloths. In the waters, you could spot dolphins, frog and piranha fish!

Day 5: Amazon to Cuiaba

This morning you will leave the lodge at around 8.30am, and you will be taken to Manaus airport by shared transfer for your flight to Cuiaba. Once landed, you will be driven by private transfer to your hotel where you will check in for a 1-night stay.

Day 6: Cuiaba to the Pantanal

This morning after breakfast your family will be picked up by shared transfer for the journey to the lodge in the Pantanal, the world’s biggest wetlands!

A new adventure awaits as the 3-hour transfer is a chance to appreciate the beauty of the landscape and wealth of wildlife. Once you arrive at the lodge, time permitting, you will be able to take part in your first choice of lodge activity and will have dinner in the evening.

Days 7 & 8: Activities at the lodge

Join in the fun and explorations offered by your lodge, Rio Mutum which are all included in your stay together with full board.

The tours include wildlife safaris, boat trips, canoe tours, horseback riding and more – with opportunities to spot plenty of howler and capuchin monkeys, colourful toucans as well as creatures like tapirs, capybaras, caimans and even anacondas! You’ll be looked after by knowledgeable English-speaking guides who will help you get close up in a safe environment.

Day 9: Depart the Pantanal

Enjoy breakfast, and afterwards, you will be driven by shared transfer to Cuiaba airport to connect with your onward travel plans.

Info

The Amazon has two seasons, a dry from July to November with quite high temperatures ad a wet from December to June with lower temperatures.

The Pantanal’s dry season is from April to October, and that is when we suggest visiting as travelling conditions in the wet season are not very favourable. The best time for bird watching is from July to September.
