    Itinerary in brief:

    • 2 nights in Guayaquil
    • 3 nights in Puerto Lopez

    Day 1: Arrive Guayaquil

When you arrive in Guayaquil, you will be picked up and driven to your hotel, where you’ll check in for two nights. Enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 2: Mangrove Forest and chocolate hacienda

After breakfast, you will be picked up and taken to visit the Churute Mangroves Ecological Reserve. Only 25 miles from the city, east of the Guayas River mouth, it offers spectacular bird and marine animal spotting opportunities.

During the trip, you will take time to stop at some of the many lakes found within the park, all home to hundreds of aquatic birds. On the way back to Guayaquil, you will visit a chocolate hacienda to learn about the harvest and production of the world’s best cocoa bean! There will also be plenty of chances to taste, and buy, the chocolate. Back in Guayaquil, the rest of the day will be free for you to relax.

    Day 3: Puerto Lopez

Today, after breakfast, you will head to the charming fishing village of Puerto Lopez on Ecuador’s Pacific coast. The drive along the coast offers beautiful scenery all along the way. You will make a stop in Salinas, a coastal town on the western tip of Ecuador’s Santa Elena province, before carrying on towards your final destination. The afternoon will be free for you to enjoy as you wish.

Day 4: Isla de la Plata

Today, the Isla de la Plata awaits you! Part of the Machalilla National Park and dubbed as “Ecuador’s other Galapagos”, this tiny island is crammed with extraordinary wildlife. You’ll spend a full day on this beautiful speck of land in the Pacific Ocean, and a packed lunch is included. Many bird species, including blue-footed boobies and the Galapagos albatross, can be spotted here – so keep your eyes peeled! On top of that, humpback whales sightings are almost guaranteed between June and September.

    Day 5: Puerto Lopez

Today is a full day at leisure in Puerto Lopez. Relax on the beach in the sunshine, or if you feel more active, there are all kinds of activities available in nearby Machalilla National Park.

    Day 6: Depart Guayaquil

This morning, you will be driven back to Guayaquil airport for your onward flight.

Ecuador’s Pacific coast can be enjoyed all year round. However, if you want the chance to see humpback whales on Isla de la Plata, it’s best to plan your trip between June and September.
