    Itinerary in brief

    • 2 nights Phnom Penh
    • 1 night Chau Doc
    • 1 night Ho Chi Minh

Day 1: Arrive in Phnom Penh

You will be greeted at the airport by your private driver, and taken to your hotel to check-in for your 2 night stay.

The remainder of your day is free for you to relax, unwind, and discover your surrounding area.

    Day 2: Phnom Penh

Today is free for you to explore Phnom Penh independently at your own pace.

A few highlights we really enjoy include visiting the Russian Market, known for its selection of wood and stone carvings, and also the Central Market, great for food, jewellery, and traditional crafts.

Here at Travel Nation, we loved heading to the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum of Cambodia – strolling around these attractions are a really lovely way to spend the afternoon.

Day 3: Phnom Penh to Chau Doc

After breakfast, you will be met at your hotel and taken to the pier, where you will board your four hour cruise along the river. Along the way, you can relax and enjoy the wonderful landscape and life along the river banks.

During your boat trip, you will cross the border (and go through visa formalities!) before ending your journey in the riverside town of Chau Doc. Chau Doc is an incredibly friendly and colourful town, and a great place to explore.

Day 4: Chau Doc to Ho Chi Minh

An early start today ensures you get to Ho Chi Minh in good time. Your driver will collect you from your hotel, and your 5 hour journey will take you through the Vietnamese countryside and alongside the river.

Upon your arrival, you will check into your hotel, where you can stretch your legs and take in your new surroundings.

    Day 5: Ho Chi Minh

This is the last day of our “Along the Mekong” package, and we have included a private transfer to the airport. If you would like to extend your time in Ho Chi Minh just let us know, and we can give you some fantastic suggestions.

All of our trips, stop-over packages, and tailor-made itineraries are all fully flexible and can be tailored to your needs – just give us a call and speak to one of our knowledgeable and friendly travel consultants.

Cambodia is a year round destination, however the best months to visit are December and January when humidity levels are low, rainfall in minimal and a cool breeze gives relief. From early February temperatures begin to rise until April when temperatures can hit 40 degrees. The wet season goes from May to October and brings rain and high humidity.

The climate in Vietnam varies dramatically depending on the region you are visiting and is incredibly diverse with weather ranging from snow and frost in the northern hills to tropical conditions in the south. There are two monsoons in Vietnam; the winter monsoon arrives between October and March and brings cold and wet winters to the north and dry and warm conditions in the south. From April to October the summer monsoon brings humid weather to the whole country apart from those regions sheltered by mountains. For the best balance we recommend visiting in either April, May or October.

Our itineraries are tailor-made to give you an idea of some of the possibilities in this fascinating country! This means there are no date restraints and it’s a private trip just for you. We have the flexibility to tailor your trip around exactly what you are after so let us know your dates, what you like doing and where you like staying, and we will do the rest!
