Day 1: Depart Adelaide
You’ll take a shared transfer from central Adelaide to Mannum where you will board the paddle steamer and set sail for three nights. You’ll enjoy drinks on deck before the welcome dinner - a delicious three-course meal - before cruising to your overnight mooring at Mundarra. On the way, you can look out for nocturnal wildlife along the riverbank, such as grey kangaroos, wombats and tortoises.
Day 2: Cruising the Murray River
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll arrive at the bustling township of Murray Bridge to take a tour of the historical local landmarks. After lunch, you can explore the town at your leisure or choose another activity that you pay for locally, like a visit to the Dock Museum. In the late afternoon, you’ll continue upriver and moor at Salt Bush Flat, where you'll spend the evening being entertained by the talented crew.
Day 3: Cruising the Murray River
This morning you’ll head off on a guided nature walk of the Salt Bush Flat. Your guide will share the secrets of the local flora and fauna as you explore the area, watching kangaroos jump through the scrubland. Next, you'll cruise further towards the 90-metre cliffs of the upper river, learning onboard about the bounty of food and wine produced in the Riverland. Arriving at River View Lodge, near Piggy Flat, you’ll transfer onto a smaller discovery boat, which will take you through the maze of the river, looking out for the amazing birdlife that lives here, from darters and herons to egrets feeding along the muddy riverbank.
In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy bocce (a type of bowls) or fishing challenges before enjoying the farewell dinner and dance.
Day 4: Arrive Adelaide
You will arrive back at the dock in Mannum at approximately 9am, before taking the shared coach transfer back to Adelaide.
We can also add on a day tour to the Barossa Valley, Australia’s most famous wine region, after which you would arrive back into Adelaide at 5.30pm – just ask!
