Experience wildlife, history, culture, magnificent scenery and spectacular food and wine as you explore each different destination. From whale watching in South Africa to wine tasting in New Zealand and a trip to the ruined Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in Peru. We promise this round the world holiday will be a trip to remember!

    Beginning in South Africa, you will spend time in Cape Town before heading on a self-drive along the Garden Route sampling delicious South African wines and staying in unique and boutique guest houses along the way. Australia is next, with a stay in Sydney, home to the famous Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Spend three nights here before driving out and spending time in the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley, home to some of the best wineries in Australia.

    Heading over to New Zealand, our wine route takes you from Auckland to Christchurch. The spectacular Marlborough Sounds provide a highlight with stunning vistas and world-renowned food and wine.

    From here, your journey continues over to South America for a 3-night stopover in the Chilean capital of Santiago. Next up is Peru, and a week spent exploring the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Round off the entire trip with one final stopover in the exciting city of Rio to complete your fantastic journey around the world!

    Days 2-10: South Africa: self-drive the Garden Route

    Begin your round the world holiday in South Africa with our Cape Town and the Garden Route self-drive itinerary. Enjoy 3 nights in Cape Town, a city steeped in culture and history. Visit Robben Island to learn more about where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated, or take the cable car up Table Mountain for wonderful views across the city and beyond. Leaving the city, the winelands offer fantastic wine tastings and some of the best food in South Africa. The next part of your trip takes you east along the coast to Knysna for 2 nights of relaxation overlooking the lagoon and a final night in Port Elizabeth, before heading to Australia.

    Days 11-17: Sydney & Surrounds

    Once you reach Australia, our 7 day Sydney, Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley self-drive gives you 4 days to explore this iconic city, before taking a short self-drive adventure into the Blue Mountains and the Hunter Valley. With the freedom to explore at your own pace, you’ll cover 3 of the main highlights in this region.

    Explore this vibrant city and don’t miss Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach. After a few days, pick up your hire car and head into the Blue Mountains, so-named for the bluish haze that blankets the hills from the many eucalyptus trees. From here, visit the wineries of the Hunter Valley for a day’s wine tasting in this well-known wine region.

    Days 18-26: Classic New Zealand wine trail

    Your self-drive adventure along New Zealand’s wine trail begins with a stay in Auckland before introducing you to the cultural heart of New Zealand. You’ll pass through Rotorua (home of the Hangi feast) before reaching Napier and Hawke’s Bay, an area renowned for its gourmet food, world-class wineries and art-deco architecture. Journey on to the Wairarpa wine region with its lush landscapes and charming boutique wineries. Continuing to the Marlborough Region at the tip of the South Island, where you’ll encounter yet more spectacular scenery and arguably the best wineries in all of New Zealand. Enjoy local wines and sumptuous seafood on your relaxing cruise through the Sounds. Finally, you’ll head down to Blenheim through a rich patchwork of farming land to reach the capital of South Island, Christchurch, to end your New Zealand road trip.

    Days 27-30: Santiago stopover

    Spend 3 nights in Chile with our 4 day Santiago stopover package. Overlooked by the towering Andes mountain range, Santiago is a city that houses 40% of the Chilean population! With its expansive museums, grand architecture and gorgeous parks, Santiago is a great city to stroll around. With countless sidewalk eateries, restaurants, beer halls and world class hotels you certainly won’t be short of ways to enjoy your evenings, just remember Chileans venture out late!

    If you have more time to spend here, why not add in an extra special destination and fly over to Easter Island, home to the carved rock Moai Statues? We can easily arrange a side trip to this fascinating island from Santiago!

     


    Days 30-36: Essential Peru in a week

    From Chile, you’ll continue on to Peru for a week, home to the ancient Inca citadel, Machu Picchu. Beginning in Lima, we’ve included 2 days in the Peruvian capital for you to explore the colonial architecture and up-coming local culinary scene before heading to Cusco. Here you can visit the Temple of the Sun, an example of ancient Incan Architecture. The Sacred Valley is next, with a visit to the Awanacancha llama centre where you can learn about the importance of llamas and alpacas to the Peruvian way of life.

    The next two days are all about Machu Picchu! You’ll make your way to the ancient site by train (rather than trekking, although we can organise this if you prefer). You’ll have plenty of opportunity to spend the whole day taking in the amazing views of this ancient city.

    Days 36-39: Rio Stopover

    Finish your trip on a high with 3 nights in a colourful Brazilian city on our Rio stopover package. We’ve included a day trip that visits the Corcovado, Tijuca Forest and Sugar Loaf Mountain. You’ll visit the statue of Christ the Redeemer statue on top of Corcovado Mountain, take the cable car up to Sugar Loaf Mountain for exceptional views over Rio’s peaks and bays and experience Tijuca Forest National Park which is a paradise of lush vegetation and wild animals. On your free day why not head to Copacabana Beach or head over to Ipanema for a cheeky Caipirinha for some relaxation to complete your trip?
