    Enjoy this polar bear holiday to Churchill, in far north Canada. Start with a short break in Toronto, exploring the hustle and bustle of Chinatown before heading to Niagara Falls. Take the famous Hornblower cruise right up to the falls and experience this majestic waterfall up close. Next, you’ll fly via Winnipeg to north Manitoba, to begin your polar bear adventure. The remoteness of Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge provides you with exclusive access to one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the world. Head out to explore where the boreal forest ends and the Subarctic begins. This unique convergence of eco-systems, nourished by the Hudson Bay coastal waters, is home to impressive wildlife, like wolves, black bears and polar bears, co-existing as they have for thousands of years.

    Itinerary in brief:

    Day 1: UK to Toronto

    Depart the UK from your chosen airport. You’ll arrive later the same day into Toronto - make your own way into the city and check into your hotel for two nights. On your first evening, why not head up the CN Tower for spectacular views of the city at night or enjoy dinner in Chinatown.

    Day 2: Toronto

    Today you’ll enjoy a tour of the city, visiting the Eaton Centre and Chinatown as well as the Old and New City Halls. Afterwards, you can spend the rest of the day getting to know this eclectic city, from the modern skyscrapers to the pedestrian-only Distillery District. Taste some local specialities in St. Lawrence Market and head to the Hockey Hall of Fame to spot your favourite players. This evening, why not head to the harbour for dinner under the twinkling lights?

    Day 3: Niagara Falls

    Today you’ll be transferred to Niagara Falls, where you’ll spend the rest of the day exploring at your leisure. We’ve included the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass which gives you entry to the Journey Behind the Falls, a network of tunnels through the bedrock that emerges behind the cascades. Standing here, you will have one fifth of all the world’s fresh water crashing down in front of you! You can also hike along the Niagara Gorge on the White Water Walk or hop on the Hornblower cruise (both included in the Adventure Pass). Whatever you choose, be sure to don your poncho and prepare to get wet!

    Day 4: Fly to Winnipeg

    This morning you’ll be taken back to Toronto Airport for your short flight to Winnipeg. On arrival in Winnipeg, you’ll make your own way to the The Grand by Lakeview at Winnipeg Airport, where you will enjoy a relaxing stay (no transfer is needed - the hotel is only a two minute walk). During the evening at 7pm, Churchill Wild hosts an informative orientation chat where you can meet your fellow travellers over refreshments and get excited about your adventure that begins tomorrow!

    Included: Shared transfer to Toronto, internal flight to Winnipeg, dinner, Winnipeg Airport hotel           

    Day 5: Arriving in Churchill

    You will depart Winnipeg for Churchill early in the morning and on arrival, transfer to a private charter for your one hour flight to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge. Upon arrival at the Lodge, your hosts will provide a tour and show you to your room to get settled. Lunch is served shortly after and you will then be given an orientation regarding your stay in polar bear country. Your first day includes an afternoon of exploring the coastline in search of the ‘Great Ice Bear’. Appetizers and cocktails are served at 6pm and dinner is served at 7pm. During the evening there will be a lecture by one of Churchill Wild’s knowledgeable guides. If it is a clear night, you may also have a chance to view one of the spectacular Aurora Borealis displays common at this latitude.

    Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, internal flight to Churchill, charter flight to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge

    Days 6 - 8: Nature trekking, polar bears and photography

    Breakfast will be served around 8am and your outings will begin at about 9.30am. If there are bears near the Lodge your tour might be delayed to take advantage of the photo and observation opportunities. There is always the option available for anyone to stay behind to take photos of the wildlife around the Lodge and relax. The average day includes morning and afternoon excursions with lunch served either at the Lodge or out on the trail. Appetizers and cocktails are served at 6pm and dinner is served at 7pm. During the evening, there will be an informative lecture, slide show presentation, or informal visiting. Churchill Wild staff will monitor Aurora Borealis after dark if conditions are optimal and will provide a gentle wake-up call to ensure you don’t miss any opportunities to witness and photograph this spectacular Arctic phenomenon.

    Day 9: Fly to Winnipeg via Churchill

    After breakfast, you will depart on your flight back to Churchill. In Churchill, a representative will store your luggage. For the rest of the day, you can explore the shops and exhibits. In the evening, depart on your flight to Winnipeg. Upon arrival, collect your bags, head out of the arrivals doors and look to your right. The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel is located across the way only a two minute walk.

    Included: Breakfast, charter flight to Churchill, internal flight to Winnipeg, Winnipeg Airport hotel        

    Day 10: Depart Canada

    This morning, you’ll make your own way to the airport in time for your flight home.

    Churchill in Canada is prime polar bear country with a subarctic continental climate. Think long cold winters and short, cool summers. Summer in the Arctic is absolutely beautiful – the season starts in July and ends in October/November. Depending on the time of year there are different programmes running at Churchill Wild – ask us for more information.
