It’s the perfect, secluded place to de-stress after your wedding – just relax by the pool or on the relaxed beach with a cocktail and a good book. After a few days, if you want to get out and do some activities there are lots to choose from in this area – whether you want to kayak through the ocean, snorkel or even go rock-climbing if you’re feeling particularly adventurous!
After one last delicious breakfast, you’ll be met at the hotel and taken to Krabi Airport where you’ll take a short flight via Bangkok to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Siem Reap is nestled between lush rice paddies and the Siem Reap River and is home to the magnificent Angkor Archaeological Park, the site of your exploration tomorrow!
After breakfast, you’ll begin your day of discovery at Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire, where you’ll enter the city from the ancient South Gate, carved with huge elephants. In the centre of the city you’ll discover Bayon Temple, well known for the 54 towers showing enigmatic faces that gaze down upon the people who visit. In the afternoon, you’ll hop in a tuk-tuk to Angkor Wat, where you can explore to your hearts content. Your guide will tell you all about the construction and history of this beautiful building and you can wander around until the sun sets, when Angkor Wat is less busy and the Apsara dancers decorating the temple shine in the evening light.
Today you’ll venture outside of Siem Reap on a gentle cycling tour, winding your way through small villages that few tourists ever see and stopping along the way to chat to locals and learn about their way of life. Don’t worry, there is a support vehicle if you want to take a break along the way! In the afternoon you’ll drive to the pretty temple of Banteay Srei, the so called “Citadel of the Women”, one of the best preserved temples in Cambodia with examples of classical Khmer Art in carved into the pink sandstone. One the way home you’ll stop at a local pagoda and have a private blessing ceremony from the Buddhist monks, wishing you safe journey and prosperous lives together.
After a short rest at the hotel, you’ll finish your day on a high by enjoying a relaxing cruise in a gondola paddle boat at the moat of Angkor Thom, watching the sun set over Prasat Chroung temple. You have two full days to explore the exciting city of Bangkok. The first day is yours to enjoy the city; we recommend heading to Chatuchak Weekend Market where you can taste delicious Thai street food and shop for everything from flowers to furniture. Take the boat along the Chao Praya River to Chinatown and take in the hustle and bustle of San Peng Lane before grabbing grilled squid or spicy noodles for lunch. In the evening, head for a rooftop bar – your hotel in Bangkok, Anantara Sathorn, has a brilliant rooftop bar, Zoom, where you can drink colourful cocktails, watch the sky turn purple as the sun sets and enjoy panoramic views over the twinkling city below.
On your second day, we’ve included a half day tour of the temples – you’ll visit both the Grand Palace, where the glittering mosaics shine in the sun, and Wat Pho, the impressive Reclining Buddha with beautiful mother of pearl feet. After a morning of walking through the temples, we recommend you spend your final afternoon chilling at the hotel, cooling off in the pool and toasting a wonderful honeymoon in South East Asia!
Sadly your honeymoon has come to an end – you’ll be transferred to the airport in time for your flight home.
The Southern region of Thailand has two seasons ‘wet’ and ‘dry’. On the west coast, most rain falls between April and October and on the east coast from September to December with dry and sunny weather typically for the rest of the year. Cambodia is a year-round destination, however the best months to visit are December and January when humidity levels are low, rainfall in minimal and a cool breeze gives relief. From early February temperatures begin to rise until April when temperatures can hit 40 degrees. The wet season goes from May to October and brings rain and high humidity.
