Days 2-10: Self-drive the wine route from Cape Town
The first stop on your round the world holiday is South Africa, you now have a week to explore the fabulous Cape Town and the winelands region. Spend your first 3 nights in Cape Town exploring the culture and history of this fascinating country, learning about Apartheid and even taking a trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated. Leaving the city, you’ll drive out drive to Stellenbosch, home to funky art galleries and cool cafes, with vineyards nearby for those wine tasting excursions. Foodies will love the next stop - Franschhoek – with the opportunity to dine in some of the best restaurants in South Africa.
Days 10-16: Johannesburg – Pilanesburg Safari
No trip to South Africa is complete without a wildlife experience so we’ve included our Pilanesburg safari from Johannesburg. With 5 nights here, you’ll head out ‘Big 5’ game safaris with an experienced guide. We’ve included a night either side of your safari stay in Johannesburg to give you a chance to explore. ‘Jo’berg’ as it is colloquially known is a city on the up; its cultural centre includes theatres, restaurants, cafes and museums and the inner city has become a haven for tourists. We guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised by the cultural experiences and friendly locals.
Your safari experience takes place at Shepherds Tree Lodge in the Pilanesburg National Park. Here you can spot zebras, lions and elephant while relaxing in beautiful surroundings with all your meals and activities included in your stay. An experience of a lifetime!
Days 16-22: Boutique Sydney, Central Coast and Spicers
Welcome to Australia! Here, we’ve included a self-drive adventure beginning in Sydney; home to the the ‘must-see’ sights like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. You’ll have time to explore the city before heading north to the central coast, with its pristine beaches and picturesque coastal walks. Staying in boutique accommodation throughout, your final 2 nights will be in the luxury Spicers Vineyards Estate located in the wine growing region of Hunter Valley.
Days 22-30: Fiji: A boutique week in the Mamanucas
Every trip needs a time for relaxation and this is it – a week in the South Pacific paradise of Fiji. You’ll be staying on two Fijian islands, both located in the Mamanuca chain and known for their boutique 4* resorts. Lay back, relax on white sandy beaches with a cocktail in hand and take a well-deserved break from all that exploring. Fijians are incredibly friendly so why not join a village visit to discover how the locals live and take part in a Kava Ceremony, a traditional Fijian greeting!
Days 31-38: Discover Hawaii: Oahu and Kauai
Next stop is the beautiful beaches on the captivating islands of Hawaii. Spend 3 nights in Honolulu on the island of Oahu and 3 more nights on Kauai giving you time to take a historical tour of Pearl Harbour and experience a traditional ‘Luau’ (Hawaiian feast with entertainment) on Waikiki Beach. For walk on the wild side, take time to admire the landscapes of the dramatic Na Pali coastline with its cascading waterfalls and lush mountains or head to the quiet beaches of Kauai’s north shore for some or hit the waves and try your hand at surfing!
Days 39-46: Majestic Rail and Drive
In Canada we’ve included our week long Majestic rail and drive package to take you from Calgary to Vancouver by car and rail. Beginning in the alpine town of Banff, you’ll spend 2 nights here with plenty of hiking opportunities nearby and local hot springs for some post-hike relaxation. Next up is the spectacular Lake Louise, the ‘jewel of the Rockies’ where you can hike the ‘plain of six glaciers’ trail with dramatic views from its peak that justifies the trek to reach it. Get out on to Athabasca glacier in Jasper with our ice explorer tour before boarding the famous ‘Rocky Mountaineer’ train back to Vancouver. With a stop in Kamloops, traversing this splendidly scenic region will be a highlight of your trip!
