Aloha and welcome to Hawaii! On arrival in Oahu you can look forward to being greeted with a traditional Hawaiian ‘lei’ (flower garland) at the airport before a transfer to your hotel in Waikiki Beach.
This evening you could stroll along Waikiki beach at sunset and enjoy a cocktail or two on one of the most famous beaches in the world?
Today we’ve included a tour of Pearl Harbour, made famous as the place where a surprise strike by the Japanese led to the United States’ entry into World War II. You’ll visit the USS Arizona Memorial; built above the hull of the battleship that was sunk in the harbour and the final resting place of over a thousand people who died here. Although it’s a sombre visit, it’s an important opportunity to gain real insight into Hawaii and its place in US history.
You’ll also visit the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific located in the Punchbowl, an extinct crater with spectacular panoramic views of the city of Honolulu. For the rest of the day you’ll tour the city, taking in the statue of King Kamehameha who founded the Kingdom of Hawaii and the State Capitol Building.
Today is a free day to enjoy what the island has to offer. You could visit the Polynesian Cultural Centre to learn a little more about Hawaii and the other South Pacific Islands. Or you could make your way to the rugged beaches of the north shore where you can catch a wave or simply watch the serious surfers who make their home here. If you just want to enjoy the beach, Waikiki is a great place to be – but for something a little quieter, Oahu has 128 different beaches to choose from! Our favourite is the Kahana Bay beach, nestled amongst the pine covered mountains on the north-east side of the island.
Today is your last day in Hawaii. Take one last walk along the beach, go out for one last tropical brunch in front of the ocean before being picked up and taken to the airport for your onwards flight.
High Season in Hawaii is from December to April & June to August, winter is wetter but is a good time for whale watching and surfing. Prices around the Christmas, New Year and Easter holidays are the highest with October & November being the cheapest months to visit. May and September can be a good time to visit with crowds fewer and temperatures mild.
