In northern Thailand there are two clearly defined seasons, the 'dry' season which runs from November until May and the 'wet' season, which covers the remainder of the year. The dry season can be split further into 2 periods, between November and February cooling breezes mean the temperature drops whereas March to May enjoys much a much warmer feel. The Southern region of Thailand also has two seasons, these seasons however do not run at the same time on the east and west sides of the peninsula. On the west coast the southwest monsoon brings rain and heavy storms from April to October while on the east coast most rain falls between September and December.
