Unspoiled and pristine, Heron Island is one of the few coral cay islands on the Great Barrier Reef. You won't need to take a boat trip to explore the reef or even swim out to it, as you'll be staying on it! The resort offers one of the best nature experiences anywhere on the Great Barrier Reef; such is the diversity and richness of the wildlife here, the island is a National Park within a Marine Park!

Heron Island has long been a favourite for nature lovers. It's a sanctuary for nesting green and loggerhead turtles and also a breeding ground for many rare birds, including black noddy terns and mutton birds. The clear waters around the island, home to colourful coral and all manner of exotic marine life, are a paradise for divers and snorkelers, and there are 20 dive sites just minutes from the island.

Heron Island caters for both couples and families; there's a Junior Rangers program during school holidays so kids can learn and have fun at the same time. This wonderful island is an exclusive experience for guests only no day trippers are allowed here. If you are looking for an unforgettable, back to nature experience (but with lots of creature comforts!) on a beautiful tropical island, Heron Island is the perfect choice.

There are regular flights to Heron Island from Gladstone Airport on the Queensland mainland.
