Enjoy the privacy of one of 25 free-standing luxury tents. Simply and stylishly decorated, they not only offer you a true bushveld experience, but real comforts of luxury accommodation. Experience true African style waterfront accommodation. The waterfront tents are perfect for those who enjoy the closeness of the water s edge. The sundeck on each waterfront tent overlaps the water s edge and is the ideal spot to relax during your stay. Enjoy sundowners on the deck whilst viewing free-roaming animals in the water and surrounding banks. The luxury tents are set only a few metres away from the waterhole and provide an elevated view of the surroundings. They also have great views over the whole lodge area and are surrounded by true Karoo fynbos.
Specializing in authentic Karoo cuisine, the Buffelsdrift Restaurant offers guests a delicious a la carte menu of homemade foods and local fresh produce. As accompaniment, the wine selection consists of some of the best award-winning wines on Route 62, South Africa s longest wine route. The restaurant also expands to the wooden deck, overlooking the 5ha waterhole filled with big fish, turtles and hippo. If you are lucky, you might even spot the elephants and other game on the opposite bank.
A residents-only swimming pool with deck chairs is conveniently located near the tents. The pool overlooks the waterhole and great Swartberg Mountains. To avoid disturbing the wildlife, no swimming is allowed in the waterhole. Fresh drinking water and towels are provided at the swimming pool hut. There are also organised activities at Buffelsdrift Lodge, during the bush safaris (game drives), you can expect to experience true Karoo vegetation from the open game viewing vehicles. The wide range of animals include Hippo, Elephant, Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Rhino, Springbok and much more. The duration of these bush safaris is approximately two hours. About midway through the safari, there is a refreshment break at one of the scenic lookout points. These offer 360° panoramic views of the area as well as the Swartberg Mountains. On an evening, guests can marvel at the Karoo sunset from the Spioenkop viewpoint while sipping a glass of sparkling wine. This is truly perfect way to end a glorious day, seeing the sun setting over the Karoo.
