Travel Nation’s Business Class team were recently invited to experience Emirates First & Business Class lounge at Heathrow and to take a look round one of the new Emirates A380 Business Class cabin.
Sadly, we didn’t get to fly anywhere (shame!) but having seen inside this amazing aircraft and the fabulous Emirates First and Business Class Cabins - I can now see what the fuss is about!
Emirates A380 Business Class offers the finest in luxury air travel on selected services from Heathrow and Manchester to Dubai and beyond including; Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Munich, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Shanghai, Sydney and Toronto.
As a customer in an Emirates premium cabin, the service begins right at your front door. You’ll enjoy a seamlessly convenient service from the moment you’re collected by a chauffeur and whisked away to your departure airport. The car drop off points are extremely convenient for the Terminal building, so within moments you’ll be at the Check in desk, from where you can check in or drop off bags if you’ve already checked in online.
Once you’ve been fast-tracked through security, you can make your way to the First and Business Class Lounge enabling you to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the airport and enjoy an arena area of calm.
The best part has to be the restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and hot and cold buffets throughout the day. The food we tried was amazing and plentiful (so make sure you arrive at the airport hungry!) You’re also able to enjoy a full bar with premium brands, Champagne and the full array of soft and hot drinks too.
With WIFI access, a business centre, shower rooms and prayer room, Emirates ensure that every need is catered for. And at Heathrow, you can enjoy the view and watch your aircraft approaching as you relax in the lounge, which is situated right by the gate.
As the lounge is situated so close to the gate, once your flight is ready to board (at Heathrow) you just walk down a flight of stairs and you’re at the door of the plane. As the A380 First and Business Class cabins are all on the upper deck, there’s no need to walk past and endure the envious looks of the economy passengers either!
The lounge makes a great first impression of Emirate’s service, but just wait till you step on board, which is where the service, style and comfort really begins. It’s more than a flight - it’s an experience in luxury and impeccable service.
In Emirates A380 business class you’ll discover your seat is a flat bed with inbuilt massage function. It’s extremely spacious and comfortable with your own soft drink and snack selection. You’ll have a massive television screen and the award winning ICE system (Information, Communication & Entertainment) with up to 1400 channels full of the latest films, television, music, news and even live sporting events. You can browse the entertainment options and build a playlist of everything you plan to watch and listen to during your flight – no time for boredom! There’s also easy connection to phone and email.
The cuisine on board is a genuine, fine dining experience. Meals are served on demand and you can choose from a huge selection of foods, accompanied by the finest wines in the sky. During the flight you can also use the inflight lounge/bar area, which is a great excuse to stretch those legs mid-flight!
Before we went to see the First Class cabin, I found it difficult to imagine how Emirates could improve on Business Class (especially on the A380) but after our tour, I realised they’ve managed exactly that.
On the A380, passengers experience not only a flat bed, but a full flat-bed private suite with sliding door for total privacy. If you’re travelling as a couple, this can even become a double suite. You’ll enjoy a personal, in-seat mini bar and the amenity packs are fabulous!
The biggest luxury for Emirates First Class passengers in the A380 is the exclusive shower spa suite. With sufficient hot water for each passenger to take a 5 minute shower, you’re guaranteed to arrive feeling fresh and ready to go! There’s a traffic light warning system to warn you when the water is running low so you don’t get caught short with shampoo still in your hair. The shower suites are extremely spacious with walk in showers, a toilet and vanity sink, with all toiletries and fluffy towels provided.
