Polar Regions

Explore nature's frozen extremities with a cruise to the Arctic Circle or into deepest Antarctica, aboard special ice-strengthened ships. Come face to face with the frozen planet; polar bears, penguins, whales, arctic foxes and more.

With interest in the polar regions piqued by the BBC's 2011 series 'Planet Earth', the possibility of visiting these regions which were formerly the preserve of wildlife documentary makers is now a reality, albeit not a cheap one.

A number of specialised tour companies operate arctic and antarctic cruises to the furthest northern and southern regions of the poles, using special ships, often converted from research vessels. Remarkably, it is possible to see some incredible wildlife up close, by using small, nimble 'zodiac' craft, which can reach the edges of the ice where polar bears and penguins linger.

An arctic or antarctic exploration cruise is a specialist trip, which we can happily advice, arrange and book for you. For the best information, please contact Andrea directly on 01273 320 587 or andrea@travelnation.co.uk, or send your plans to get a quote.
